Life is full of uncertainty. I think we can all agree on that. As part of the Millennial Generation, I have heard since I was very young that Social Security would end during my lifetime and that I could not count on that for retirement. The media is constantly drumming up fear of the next contagion, world war, or environmental catastrophe. I am not scared of those things as much as I am afraid that someday I might regret not taking the opportunity to pretire. I know that the world is fairly stable today and I cannot imagine what it might look like in 30 years. Will cross-country roadtrips even be possible if half of the dire predictions for the future come to fruition? I am not willing to take that chance. Plus, gasoline is really cheap right now.
