Twin Peaks Campground—Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument
Location: Why, Arizona (Why not?)
Length of visit: full day
Major draws: Scenic views, unique cactus species, birdwatching
Strenuosity: 3 out of 10
Cost/Fees: $12 per vehicle or America the Beautiful pass
Additional considerations: Little shade, deadly reptiles, illegal border crossings
Description: The park has a very nice campground (with solar showers) where you can pick up free hiker shuttles that allow for one-way trips back to your tent.  We had fun participating in the hike for health and not-so-junior ranger programs.  We saw unique bird species like phainopeplas, Scott’s orioles, Gila woodpeckers, black-throated sparrows, and, of course, ravens.
